Do you participate in book fairs?
No. We do not participate in book fairs. Such participation is not part of our current publishing model, and we do not offer book fair–related services.
Why don’t we participate in book fairs?
Participation in a book fair is completely voluntary for any publisher and is not a mandatory requirement. It depends entirely on the publisher’s financial capacity, business priorities, and operational feasibility.
1. High Cost of Participation
For example, at the Delhi Book Fair, the cost of a 3 × 3 meter stall is approximately ₹50,000 (0.5 lakh). However, the stall fee is only a part of the overall expenditure. In addition to this, a publisher must deploy a dedicated staff team to manage the stall, which involves multiple direct and indirect expenses, including but not limited to:
– Accommodation for staff during the fair period
– Food and daily allowances for staff
– Local transportation and logistics
– Travel expenses to and from the fair location
– Stall setup, branding, banners, and promotional materials
– Printing of catalogues, flyers, and marketing material
– Handling, storage, and transportation of books
– Electricity, internet, and other utility charges at the stall
– Miscellaneous and incidental operational expenses
As a result, participating in a book fair requires significant financial resources and capital.
2. Focus on Affordable Publishing for Authors
It is a reality that nearly 99% of authors wish to publish their books at the lowest possible cost. Many authors find even our affordable publishing charges expensive, although these charges only cover:
– Publishing services
– Design work (cover and interior layout)
– Operational expenses of running the publishing house
– Technology, software, and digital infrastructure
– Administrative and compliance-related costs
– Long-term sustainability of the publishing house
3. Ethical and Non-Aggressive Sales Approach
We follow an ethical, respectful, and non-aggressive approach toward authors. We do not adopt pressure-based or aggressive sales strategies to increase the sales of our publishing plans.
If an author contacts us and the first call is not received, we do not make a second call, nor do we follow up later through WhatsApp, email, or any other communication channel. We believe that publishing is a serious and thoughtful decision, and authors should be given complete space and time to evaluate their options without any form of pressure or repeated follow-ups.
Rather than focusing on sales volume, targets, or conversions, we focus on quality delivery, transparency, and realistic commitments. We take on only the work we can manage responsibly and ensure that every project receives proper attention, care, and professionalism.
This approach allows us to deliver our services calmly, honestly, and with the best possible quality, while building trust, credibility, and long-term respectful relationships with authors.
4. No False Commitments
We do not make false promises, such as:
– Guaranteed bestseller status
– Assured sales
– Misleading marketing claims
Unfortunately, such claims are commonly used by many publishers to attract authors, even though they are unrealistic and unsustainable.
Because of our ethical approach, we work only with genuine authors who truly need publishing services and value transparency. This model determines the long-term sustainability of our publishing house.
Any company or individual that spends more than its income eventually falls into debt or bankruptcy, and for similar reasons, many publishing houses shut down after a certain period of time—often due to unrealistic promises and unsustainable business practices.
Our Commitment
We are committed to providing budget-friendly and transparent publishing services to authors. However, when we consider the financial realities of our publishing house, including our revenue structure, limited margins, and the ongoing costs of running daily operations, participating in book fairs becomes impractical.
Running a publishing house involves continuous expenses such as design work, technical infrastructure, staff costs, administrative functions, and quality control. Our revenue is primarily directed toward maintaining these essential operations and ensuring consistent service delivery to authors.
Allocating a substantial amount of capital to book fair participation—such as stall fees, staffing, logistics, travel, and promotional expenses—would place unnecessary financial pressure on our operations. Such decisions could compromise our ability to provide affordable services, timely delivery, and long-term stability.
Therefore, to remain financially responsible and sustainable, we have consciously chosen not to participate in book fairs, and it will not be feasible for us to do so in the future.
For Authors Who Want Book Fair Display
Authors who wish to have their books displayed at book fairs may choose to work with premium publishers that actively participate in such events. However, it is important for authors to clearly understand the associated costs and terms.
Most premium publishers typically:
– Offer high-priced publishing plans
– Charge separately for book fair participation and book displays
– Require additional fees for stall space, promotion, and staffing
– May include book fair exposure as part of premium or bundled packages
We strongly encourage authors to review all terms, costs, and deliverables carefully before choosing such options, so they can make an informed decision based on their goals and budget.
Conclusion
Our decision not to participate in book fairs is a well-considered and responsible choice, based on financial practicality, ethical publishing practices, and our long-term sustainability as a publishing house.
Rather than investing heavily in book fairs, we choose to focus our resources on what matters most—providing honest, affordable, and high-quality publishing services to authors. We believe in transparency, realistic commitments, and delivering value instead of making exaggerated promises.
This approach allows us to serve genuine authors consistently and responsibly, ensuring that we remain a stable and reliable publishing partner in the long run.
